Backup Mac OS to LINUX

Overview

It is possible to Backup Mac OS X data to a LINUX system and preserve various Mac OS X meta data.

Setup Advice

  1. Setup a local backup on Mac OS X into a sparsebundel.
  2. Configure rsync to synchronize or LBackup to backup this sparsebundle onto the LINUX system.
  • It is important that the disk image is not mounted when you synchronize or backup the sparsebundle.
  • It is recommended that you pull and start the backup from the backup server.
